Canadians have proved their full devotion to conserving the polar bear species by stating that they would each give up $500 to ensure their long term survival, according to Cottage Country Now. The Canadian government issued a study to determine how much the average Canadian would pay to save species like the polar bear and Beluga whale.

According to Macleans magazine, Environment Canada paid consultants $41,300 to determine the value of Canada's polar bear population. In total, polar bears were valued at $6.3 billion.

While the values seem high, some experts claim that polar bears shouldn't be given a price stamp. Federal environment minister Peter Kent, stated to Cottage Country Now that the bears are in fact, priceless to the wildlife of northern Canada and other arctic regions of the world.

The results of the study demonstrated that the protection of the species is not only in the bear's best interest, but the tourists' favor as well. Thousands of individuals and groups travel to areas like, Churchill, Manitoba to witness the bears in their natural habitat, a sight not often seen in many parts of the world. As studies have demonstrated, the insurmountable species is one worth protecting.
